reality vs fantasy
Thank you to all of you that wrote back about my last note for the complete disdain of the title of 'life coach' given to any human that has the same problems as the person they are 'life coaching'.
As much as my ego loves hearing back from those who agree, feel free to tell me I'm full of sh*t. All I ask is that you post it on the group wall so all can read.
I have been working with immigrants via a Gov. agency in Woodebridge dedicated to helping them feel comfortable in Canada. It's amazing to me how many doctors, engineers and accountants are applying to Walmart or Loblaws when they get here! Most importantly, not only should you feel good that you have the ability to get what you want in this country, but that "We' take care of people who move here from other countries.
I actually enjoy working with them because no matter where they are from, they do have some English, and all of them have a great sense of humour. However, a few times they said something, and maybe because it bothered me, I heard it from others around my inner circle. In fact the last person who said it to me was last night! So I decided to write about it.
The words stated that should be illegal to say is "I hope..". Many people use it as part of their verbiage. They don't even realize how strong it is to say that!
I 'hope' means that you are relying on fate to make it happen. Yes, fate does exist in my view, but I look at destiny is your predetermined result, but fate is the route you choose to take.
'I hope' puts way too much power in the hands of the unknown, and leaves very little to you. If you recall, I wrote about the people who say 'Sorry I didn't call, been busy'. Really they didn't call because they didn't make it a priority. Time is never given, it's made. Therefore, I 'hope' is the same way.
We complain when we hear that someone else or something else has control over our lives, but when left to ourselves, we don't cease the control and do something with it! I got very upset with the with the group because the statement "I hope I get a job soon' made it unlikely it would happen. "I"m determined to get a job' sounds like someone who won't give up and even more so, believes in themselves to put them in the right frame of mind to get the job.
'When are we getting together?' 'Well, I hope soon." When will they really see each other? Probably not for a long time.
If something is important to you, don't let your control over getting it evade you. I can't remember the last time I actually said 'I hope'. Make a determination. Not only will you see results, but you will see your self respect going up since you know you can make anything happen for yourself.
I hope you keep it in mind...er...
